2021 NEI Congress Interview with the Author of Hidden Valley Road

2021 NEI Congress | Colorado Springs, CO & Virtual
November 5, 2021

This very special event at the 2021 NEI Congress featured Robert Kolker, author of the New York Times bestseller and Oprah’s Book Club pick “Hidden Valley Road”. “Hidden Valley Road” is the true story of the Galvin family, a Colorado Springs family with 12 children, 6 of whom were diagnosed with schizophrenia. The audience was surprised and delighted when the youngest of the Galvin children, Lindsay Galvin Rausch, joined Dr. Andrew Cutler, Dr. Stephen Stahl, and Robert Kolker on stage to contribute to the conversation. In addition to discussing the experiences of the Galvin family, the panel explored some of the limitations of treatments available to the Galvin family 60 years ago, how newer antipsychotics may have impacted outcomes for the Galvin family, and strategies that clinicians, family members, and caregivers can utilize to improve outcomes for patients living with schizophrenia.
