Joint Accreditation and CE Credit Types

In support of improving patient care, Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

In addition to the above three accreditation types—physician, nurse, pharmacy—NEI is further accredited to provide continuing education (CE) for physician associates, psychologists, and social workers.

Healthcare Provider Benefits

NEI's joint accreditation means that you can:

  • Earn the specific type of CE credits you need to maintain licensure and/or certification.
  • Enjoy opportunities to better understand, learn with, and learn from colleagues with different skills, all while advancing your own expertise.

CE Credit Types Available for NEI Activities

  • Nurse Practitioner: ANCC contact hours
  • Pharmacy: ACPE knowledge-based, application-based, or certificate program contact hours
  • Physician: ACCME AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
  • Physician Associate: AAPA Category 1 CME credits
  • Psychology: APA CE credits (1 hour minimum activity length)
  • Social Work: ASWB-ACE CE credits (1 hour minimum activity length)
  • Non-Physician Member of the Healthcare Team: Certificate of Participation stating the program is designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
  • Interprofessional Continuing Education: IPCE credit for learning and change

Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE)

IPCE is when members from two or more professions learn with, from, and about each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.

  • IPCE credits identify team-based CE activities. They do not replace education or credits for individual professions—they are in addition to credits for individual professions.
