Partners in Care:
Fostering Relationships With Clubhouses
to Support Recovery From Serious Mental Illness

Start Activity

Best-evidence shows that individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) require treatment beyond pharmacotherapy to achieve meaningful self-directed recovery, including improvement of health and wellness within their communities. These treatments that integrate (psychiatric and medical) care and social interventions are important; however, most individuals with SMI do not receive options that focus on full recovery.

This curriculum has been designed to train psychiatrists and mental health professionals in the principles and models of integrated care for persons with histories of severe mental disorders, highlighting the integration of community-based supports like clubhouses with traditional medical and psychiatric care.
