From age correction to genome-wide association
Articles are an integral part of the education system of practicing clinicians. By keeping up-to-date on medical literature, practitioners may be better prepared to handle difficult cases that present to their practice. Furthermore, articles offer an opportunity for practitioners to brush up on background information, as well as providing new information on up-and-coming research and treatments in the field of psychopharmacology. This article briefly reviews recent research in the study of genetics, genomics, and epigenetics.

Circuits of Sexual Desire in Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
Brain circuits of sexual desire overlap with the known reward pathway. Neurotransmitters, especially dopamine and norepinephrine, are key regulators of reward. Dysfunction of reward pathways is hypothetically linked to numerous conditions, including depression and substance abuse, and, more recently, to sexual dysfunction, including hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).

Maintaining Mood Stability: Long-term Options in the Treatment of Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is a chronic condition requiring life-long maintenance treatment to prevent both manic and depressive episodes. It may be challenging to develop a long-term pharmacological treatment plan that effectively addresses symptoms with minimal adverse side effects. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of pharmacological agents and psychosocial interventions currently available as treatment options.

What is Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder?
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is a disorder of sexual function with symptoms that can be linked to different brain regions, most notably those involved in reward.

Glutamate Neurotransmission
Mechanism of Action (MOA) animations offer a clear, concise, and easy-to-follow format designed to better enable participants to understand the intricacies of how the brain works and how drugs act in the brain. Audio guides synched to the animation further ensure that participants can follow along with ease and at their pace. This animation depicts the process of glutamate neurotransmission, which is critical to learning and memory processes such as long-term potentiation and synaptic plasticity.

Fibromyalgia and Sleep
Snippets are short audiovisual presentations, often taken from a recent talk presented by a practicing clinician. Participants are able to listen to the snippet as if they were at the lecture in person, view the slides that correspond with the speaker’s dialogue, and answer questions regarding potential treatment options. In this snippet, Dr. Schwartz discusses sleep disturbances associated with fibromyalgia.

The Case: 34-Year-Old With Polymorphic Anxiety Disorder and Mood Symptoms
Drills—interactive, Web-based presentations of an actual case provided by an overseeing clinician—will better enable the participants to understand how to treat complex cases and what actually occurs in real-world situations behind closed psychiatrists' doors. Participants are able to review a case, answer questions regarding potential treatment options, view peer responses, and learn what actually happened in the case. Each drill provides difficult content on an easy-to-grasp and interesting level, thereby involving the participant in the learning experience. This case discusses management options for a patient with multiple symptom domains and inadequate response to current treatment.

Audio guides synched to the animation further ensure that participants can follow along with ease and at their pace. This animation depicts the mechanistic profiles of antipsychotics with antidepressant properties.
