Expert clinician, prolific researcher, and renowned educator joins steering committee for leading medical education company and distinguished leader in psychopharmacology-based education

MALVERN, Pa., (April 01, 2024) – Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) is pleased to announce Dr. Jeffrey Strawn has joined the NEI Steering Committee. Dr. Strawn will serve alongside Drs. Andrew J. Cutler, Roger S. McIntyre, and Stephen M. Stahl to provide content review and educational design help to our teams. Additionally, we are also proud to announce Dr. Strawn will serve as Chair of the annual NEI Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Academy.

Since its inception in 2000 by award-winning author and psychiatrist Stephen M. Stahl, MD, PhD, DSc (Hon.), NEI has distinguished itself by providing high quality, visually engaging, and evidence-based educational activities designed to help increase the competence of healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and neurologic disease states. The company’s educational programs consist of biannual hybrid conferences—NEI Congress, virtual meetings—NEI Saturday Morning Live, and a plethora of online CME/CE activities and professional practices tools, including the Master Psychopharmacology Program certificate program and NEI Prescribe mobile app.

“I am very excited to have Dr. Jeffrey Strawn join our steering committee”, said Dr. Stahl. “I have had the opportunity to work closely with him when co-authoring the [Child and Adolescent] Prescriber’s Guide and onsite at our national conferences. He is a fantastic clinician, brilliant researcher and has quickly become a fan favorite presenter at all NEI meetings. I have no doubt that Dr. Strawn will play a key role in continuing to push all that we do at NEI to the next level.”

Dr. Jeffrey Strawn is a tenured Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Clinical & Translational Pharmacology at the University of Cincinnati. He is Director of the UC Anxiety Disorders Research Program and the Associate Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, he is a co-director of the Center for Clinical & Translational Science & Training (CCTST) in Cincinnati. His research focuses on anxiety disorders and risk factors for these conditions as well as on the pharmacologic treatment of these disorders.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the steering committee at NEI,” said Dr. Strawn. “Working alongside the exceptional team at NEI and with my fellow clinicians at the biannual NEI meetings over the last five years has truly been a highlight of my year. These meetings leave me invigorated and ready to tackle challenges in my clinic and research and I’m excited to share this experience with others in my new role. As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, I am particularly enthusiastic about creating more content and learning resources to equip my colleagues with more tools for working in pediatric mental health.”

Dr. Strawn has authored more than 220 peer-reviewed publications and authored 6 books on the treatment of children and adolescents, on pediatric psychopharmacology and on contemporary psychotherapy in addition to co-authoring the Prescriber’s Guide: Children and Adolescents with Dr. Stahl.

He is extensively involved in medical education and has annually spoken at NEI events since 2018. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, a member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and has received multiple awards for teaching, mentorship, and research.
